After the miserable St.Laurent, I wanted something good:
1. Bedrock Syrah AlderSpringsVnyd/MendoCnty (SpiritRock/Manzanita/EmeraldPool blocks; 14.7%; Grower: StuBewley; 80% whole-cluster; 6 brls) 2012: Very dark color; intense blackberry/Syrah bit peppery/c-c some black olive tapenade quite Rhonish/roasted/w-c/smokey rather complex nose; quite tart/tangy/bit metallic some blackberry/Syrah/black olive tapenade rather Rhonish/w-c/roasted/smokey/peppery fairly hard/tannic structured bit complex flavor w/ ample hard/chewey tannins; very long/lingering bit earthy very strong
w-c/Rhonish/peppery/roasted/smoked meats some blackberry/Syrah/black olive tapenade quite structured finish w/ ample hard tannins; a very hard/structured Syrah dominated by the w-c fermentation that needs about 5-10 yrs of age yet.

1. I was surprised on how hard/structured this Syrah was and was expecting a bit more evolution. But I think down the road it will be a terrific very Rhonish Syrah.
