Had some friends from Charlottesville in this weekend & we tried:
1. Huber Vision GrunerVeltliner (12.0%; www.Weingut-Huber.At; Organic grapes; BroadbentSlctns/Sonoma) Markus Huber/Reichersdorf/Austria NV (L N4893/21): Dark gold color w/ some tiny bubbles; simple GV/white pepper/floral/carnations slight chalky/perfumed talc quite pleasant nose; lightly tart/tangy slightly sweet some GV/white pepper/floral/carnations light perfumed talc bit light/quiet/near vapid flavor; med. slight white pepper/GV/floral somewhat off-dry slight perfumed talc finish; a pleasant enough GV but too sweet for me & too close to vapid; very unthrilling. $15.50 (KK)

Roumateilles 2003: Dark brown rather PX color; strong botrytis/apricotty/peachy some alcoholic/volatile some earthy fairly oxidative rather complex/old Sauternes nose; quite tart/tangy rather oxidative/earthy slightly sweet some botrytis/apricitty bit complex flavor; very long/lingering slightly sweet fairly oxidative/earthy some volatile/fumey finish; not a very good example of an old Sauternes; fairly oxidative & old before its time. $19.00/hlf
A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. The Oreads was a rather strange wine. Made by a natural winemaker, it showed no signs of any natty character. Pretty much all Muscat & not much else.
