2012 Truett Hurst, "The Criminal" Red Blend, Dry Creek Valley, 15% abv. Don't know what the retail on this would be and don't care, just another over ripe, over "oaked" (and I use that term with caution) fruit bomb. Really, whoever is responsible for this bottle should be jailed for life. Grade: Drinkable.

2012 Chloe "Red No. 249", "North Coast" CA appellation, 13.5% alcohol is a big, big step up from the Criminal. A minimal amount of phony oak, lots of good dark spicy fruit, perhaps the merest touch of rs, very drinkable. From the Cupcake folks. Grade: solid B.
