2005 Copain Syrah Harrison Clarke Santa Ynez Valley

Everyone focuses on Well's pinots, but the syrahs are just briliant too. This is a prime example. Just a beautiful wine that time has served well. Lovely nose of plums and dark cherries. Vibrant fruit. Blueberries, currants, roasted meat, a hint of anise. Still evident but polished tannins that may soften a bit more with a few more years. Great acidity that highlights the fruit across the palate. Long, subtle finish. Just a brilliant wine with years ahead of it. I'll come back to this in four or five years. "A"
